At GEM Floats, every float and jig that leaves our shop is made by hand in Wisconsin. We fish, and we build tackle the way we'd want to use it ourselves.

Our Story

GEM Floats started with a simple frustration: wanting to cast a float up river, against the wind, and still land it where I wanted it.

Cork became the answer. It offered the balance, buoyancy, and feel I was looking for on the water. What started as a hobby grew over the years as we developed more float designs, added handcrafted jigs, and turned it into a family-owned small business.

How We Make Our Floats & Jigs

Our floats are made from natural cork, a material valued for its buoyancy, sensitivity, and durability.

Our lead jigs are poured and painted in-house, giving us control over the weight, hook placement, colors, and finishes of the jigs we make.

Every piece is made by hand, so slight variations in color and finish are part of the process.
